Flick Nation Presents … a selection of curated classic movie trailers.
And when we say “classic,” that doesn’t mean the movie was necessarily good, but has endured the test of time. Sure, maybe it’s one of the greatest flicks ever … or maybe it’s a movie that’s so awesome that it should have endured. Either way, consider the next two minutes of your life as homework for your streaming queue.
Say Anything… is a 1989 American romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Cameron Crowe in his directorial debut. The film follows the romance between Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack), an average student, and Diane Court (Ione Skye), the valedictorian, immediately after their graduation from high school. In 2002, Entertainment Weekly ranked Say Anything… as the greatest modern movie romance, and it was ranked number 11 on Entertainment Weekly’s list of the 50 best high-school movies. High praise!
But if you’re having a tough time remembering specific plot points, all you need to know is that this is the movie that features John Cusack in a trench coat holding up a boom box blasting Peter Gabriel in an unmistakable gesture of true love (as opposed to the fact that it looked really amazing on the poster).
Roger Ebert loved it. Heck, everyone loved it! It still holds an impressive 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Even if nobody can remember anything else about it.
