Legendary artist Prince dead at 57

Damn, this one hurts.

Prince was found dead at his recording studio in Minnesota early on Thursday, according to TMZ. He was 57.

The legendary artist had a medical emergency on April 15th that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois. But he appeared at a concert the next day to assure his fans he was okay. His people told TMZ he was battling the flu.

Where do you begin with a dazzlingly prolific artist such as Prince?

Well, once the media circus dies down, do yourself a favor and read THIS from top to bottom. His level of artistry and the drive to create was simply unparalleled, and frankly, it’s something we never again have the opportunity to witness.

Listen to any of his albums and you’ll find just about everything you hear was written, performed, and guided by him, down to performing many of the instruments (with all apologies to those who have jammed with the man).

39 albums. 38 tours. 7 Grammys. 104 singles.

Because of Prince’s famously tricky relationship with the internet, it may be tough to find many of his hits. But I’m sure everyone will find a way.
