Soundwaves honored by Pacifica City Council for 25 Years of Xmas charity

OCTOBER 13, 2014 – The city council of Pacifica honored Soundwaves producers Dennis Willis and Steven Kirk for 25 years of Soundwaves Christmas, the acclaimed annual holiday program that has raised thousands of physical donations for local area charities. Mayor Mary Ann Nihart read the proclamation (pictured).

Willis attended the public meeting with his family and accepted the proclamation on behalf of his “amazing crew, and the many volunteers who are always looking for new ways to help people.”

The good-natured exchange was punctuated by council members’ recollections of the show. Mayor Pro Tem Karen Ervin said, “Thank you so much for all that you’re doing. You’re providing great entertainment for such a great cause. And I can’t believe it was 25 years ago that it started, because I remember that very well.”

Council member Len Stone added “I knew it was longer than I could remember, but seeing it’s 25 years is amazing.” Willis responded,  “I had hair when we started.”

He added, “We go out all over the place, but we’re first and foremost a Pacifica show, and always will be.”
