30 years after the legendary Band Aid recording of “Do They Know It’s Christmas” kicked off the charity rock movement that would spawn the Live Aid concerts (and Soundwaves Christmas), Bob Geldof has assembled another who’s who list of British music superstars to fight the good fight. This time, the goal is to combat the spread of the Ebola virus, and to raise money to help victims of the disease.
The Complete Performer List:
Midge Ure, Seal, Clean Bandit, Sam Smith, One Direction, Ellie Goulding, Sinead O’Connor, Underworld, Roger Taylor, Paul Epworth, Ed Sheeran, Robert Plant, Disclosure, Olly Murs, Jimmy Napes, Elbow, Emeli Sande, Angelique Kidjo, Rita Ora, Paloma Faith, Chris Martin, Bono, Bastille, Jessie Ware, Fuse ODG
To be fair, #BandAid30 might be the higher-profile single, but it’s not the first effort that brings together international artists to raise money to combat Ebola. Check out this video for AFRICA STOP EBOLA, featuring Tiken Jah Fakoly, Amadou & Mariam, Salif Keita, Oumou Sangare, Kandia Kora, Mory Kante, Sia Tolno, Barbara Kanam and rappers Didier Awadi, Marcus (from the band Banlieuz’Arts) and Mokobe.
