One of the bands that not only defined the 80s but SURVIVED the 80s is the unstoppable doo-wop machine that is Huey Lewis and the News.
The gang is still packing them in these days and shows no signs of slowing down.
This time around, Soundwaves: Front Row catches Huey and the boys at the height of their popularity with this charity appearance at Slims in San Francisco.
Bay Area Super Promoter Bill Graham put together a series of benefit shows called In Concert Against AIDS to raise awareness to the onslaught of the disease. In addition to Huey and the News performing on May 23rd, Graham put together a Day on the Green style concert for the cause a few days later featuring The Grateful Dead, Tracy Chapman, John Fogerty, Los Lobos, Joe Satriani and Tower Of Power.
Heres a quick interview with Bill Graham just before the start of In Concert Against AIDS.
Including the hits Heart of Rock n Roll, Power of Love and I want a New Drug, heres Huey Lewis and the News in all their live glory.
