These days, Stevie Nicks is known as a goddamned icon.
But back in 1981, she had just released her first solo album Bella Donna and was heading back into the studio to record the 1982 Fleetwood Mac album Mirage. Throughout the rest of the decade, she would alternate between solo and Mac projects, charting and touring in spectacular fashion with both.
Stevie Nicks In Concert was taped on the final night of her brief White Wing Dove Tour supporting Bella Donna at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on On December 13th, 1981. This video aired as an HBO special and was directed by legendary music video director Marty Callner.
It’s a fascinating snapshot at a solo artist finding her footing, but no less enchanting.
