The music of Huey Lewis and the News will anchor a new stage musical, to be called Heart of Rock and Roll. Huey made the announcement with the help of celebrity fan Jimmy Kimmel, who humorously announces his plans to quit his TV show to play Lewis (no such role exists).
Gordon Greenberg will direct the show, while Jonathan Abrams wrote the book based on an original story he crafted with Tyler Mitchell. A synopsis of the story has yet to be released along with a premiere date or production schedule.

The Bay Area legends scored 19 Top 10 singles, among them “I Want a New Drug,” “Stuck with You,” “Hip to Be Square,” “If This Is It,” and “The Power of Love,” which was nominated for an Academy Award for its usage in 1985’s “Back to the Future.”
Based in New York, Greenberg has directed dozens of works for the stage, including an award-winning production of Working that he adapted with Stephen Schwartz and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
