It’s A 90s Thing #55 – Fire & Ice

After providing data for hundreds of Soundwaves 10@10 episodes, Intern Steve steps into the spotlight with a deep dive into All Things 90s. Almost every episode will be two parts … each half a distinctly different subject from its counterpart … seemingly unrelated pop culture and music topics that (more often than not) will have a connection!

In the 80s a few artists recorded songs with dozens, if not hundreds, of pop culture references in their lyrics. Off the top of my head, Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire” and REM’s “The End Of The World As We Know It” come to mind. The 90s had one of these gems as well, and today we’re going to hear it. We’re going to hear the first Cocteau Twins single released in the US and we’re going to hear from an artist who was the star attraction at a New Year’s Eve party at President Trump’s mansion Mar-a-Lago. Didn’t think I could care less about him and yet now, somehow, I do.
