DJ Mike Show #185 – 1/26/2021

DJ Mike Lidskin spent ten years at a National Public Radio station in Chicago, returned to California in 1997 and created Twirl Radio, and now hosts 30 hours of programming a month at Woody Radio. His two shows, “The Show With No Name” and “The Saturday Thing”, feature the finest independent music and artists from the rock era. Mike’s on a mission to not “just spin rock music, but to educate listeners about this vital art form.” Indeed, he doesn’t just announce the songs, but gives histories about some of the artists, the albums, and the songs themselves.

You can catch the DJ Mike Shows live on Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. PST and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. PST at Woody Radio,

Well this was an exciting evening. We had high winds and rain in the Sacramento area, with gusts of about 60 miles per hour. The power and internet blinked off and on during my show. Finally, the top of a tall tree in a neighbor’s yard snapped off, and got snared by the power lines at the back of the yard. As I sometimes mention on the show, my little studio overlooks the back patio. And the backyard. And flying things during rainstorms. Out of an abundance of caution, I ended the show a little early. Good thing, because the power went out for about 17 hours. And they say Sacramento is boring!

So this show has some great music in it, and it’s what the evening sounded like, as I was nervously eyeing the weather confronting the backyard. Give a listen–you might just find something new to love.
